Water Saving Tips

Help conserve water by inspecting and repairing any leaking toilets and faucets.

  1. When washing dishes by hand, don't let the water run while rinsing. Fill one sink with wash water and the other with rinse water.
  2. Run your dishwasher only when they are full. You can save up to 1,000 gallons a month.
  3. Replace showerheads with lo-flow showerheads.
  4. Shorten your shower by a minute or two and you'll save up to 150 gallons per month.
  5. Replace older model toilets with new ultra-low-flush models.
  6. Check toilets for leaks. Drop a dye tablet or a teaspoon of food coloring in the tank. If color appears in the bowl after 15 minutes, replace the "flapper" valve.
  7. Designae one glass for yur drinking water each day. this will cu down the number of glasses to wash.
  8. Don't use running water to thaw food. Defrost food in refrigerator for water efficiency and food safety.
